Clear and simple guidance to help older people find their way through the care maze
LEGAL MATTERS
If you would like help with wills, Powers of Attorney or other legal matters relating to older people then we believe Solicitors for the Elderly (SFE) would be a good place to start. It is an independent, national organisation of lawyers, such as solicitors, barristers, and legal executives who provide specialist legal advice for older and vulnerable people, their families and carers.
You can find a local legal adviser through them.
Gov.UK has a useful website
LOOKING FOR A CARE HOME OR OTHER CARE SERVICES?
There are a number of websites where you can search in your local area. The following are probably the better ones.
The Care Quality Commission is the independent regulator of health and social care in England. They have a website where you can search care homes and other care providers. You can find inspection ratings for care providers here.

SPECIALIST CARE FEES ADVICE
Are you worried about about paying for care and the consequences of your money running out?
Care Fees Advice, or care fees planning, is a specialist type of financial advice, provided by financial advisers, which is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). Usually this type of advice is sought when someone is moving into a care home;
sometimes people seek advice when looking for ways to fund care at home.
We believe the most experienced care fees advisers are to be found through the Society of Later Life Advisers (SOLLA). All their members must adhere to a code of practice and full members must be fully accredited. You can search for an adviser local to you here.
You may also want to search the "Paying for Care" and "Symponia" websites.
